What?s the difference between simple stem and cone socket mirrors?
Cone socket mirror heads have a ledge or lip before the thread on the shank.
Simple stem mirror heads have a shank that is straight.
Cone Socket mirror are the ones that have a ledge before the thread on the shank
Simple Stem the thread goes direct on the shank ( straight Shank )
Mirrors , depending on their purpose, can be coated on the Front surface or on the back surface .
For more durability they are coated on the back surface, protected by the glass. ( Plane surface )
For more accuracy on the light reflection, are coated on the Front surface , so there is less possibilities of getting a scattered reflection after hitting on a rough surface
Also, Front Surface Mirror eliminates the ?ghost image? altogether because the reflecting layer is no longer behind the glass but on its surface. It reflects only once, providing clear vision, free from all distortion.
Plane surface also know as regular mirrors light is reflected from the top of the glass as well as from the silver layer. This causes a double image
